Description

The author, who is an archaeologist, studied and compared ancient and present-day irrigation methods of taro in the South Pacific. He has noticed that in some areas ancient irrigation techniques have been lost or are about to vanish. It is argued that the old labour-intensive techniques would still be viable, especially considering the increasing population in the area. The author recommends more research into this field by agronomists.
