Tourism research  has corne a long  way  since the first developments in  the identification and délinéation of a tourism subject area in the mid 1960s. It has moved in interesting new directions, botli generated and responded to different challenges and applied itself to novel situations. Developments in Tourism Research explores the ways in which the research picture of tourism is now being  drawn,  both  in  subject coverage and  methodological approaches. It is a collection of 15 edited chapters selected from the best papers submitted  to  the 2006  tourism conférence at the University  of Surrey.  These, together with the editors’ introductions, provide a view on the current stage of tourism research and on new and emerging research directions. The emphasis of the book is on contributions which offer new insights and approaches to tourism research.
