Description

This paper presents radiometric ages of some. New Caledonia rocks and minerals and
relates their significance to the geologic history of New Caledonia and adjacent areas of the southwest Pacific. The data suggest that New Caledonia was the site of a converging plate margin (subduction zone) as long ago as the Late Jurassic and that this situation was repeated during late Eocene to early Oligocene time.
