This massively detailed encyclopedia (in two hefty volumes, totalling 1877 pages) looks at religions, religious movements and religious figures worldwide and throughout history. It looks particularly at the links between these religions, movements and figures with nature and the environment. It was a concerted effort to attempt to survey to what extent the former respected and protected, or denigrated, damaged, or destroyed, the latter. Each topic article was given about the same publication space. This author's published contribution, on aspects of the religion - The Law of the Great Mother - of the Kogi (Kaggaba) Indians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta of northern Colombia, is an edited version of a longer 2003 text.
