[FR] De même qu'il existe plusieurs conceptions du monde et de l'histoire, il existe des conceptions différentes de l'espace, qui peuvent être antagonistes et fondées sur des "idéologies géographiques'' au sens large. L'idéologie géographique occidentale est fondée sur la spatialité différentielle. Elle repose sur le système de la parcelle et de la frontière, c'est-à-dire sur le découpage du monde en ensemble spatiaux homogènes et séparés. D'autres modèles existent dans l'Océanie traditionnelle, où le monde est perçu comme un archipel animé et réuni par des réseaux. Ce n'est pas la spatialité différentielle qui compte, mais la spatialité réticulée des lieux et des routes. Le modèle des chaînages linguistiques en fournisse un exemple.
[EN] Just as there are multiple conceptions of the world and of history, there are also different conceptions of space, which may be antagonistic and based on “geographical ideologies” in the broad sense. Western geographical ideology is based on differential spatiality. It rests on the system of parcels and boundaries—that is, on the division of the world into homogeneous and separate spatial units. Other models exist in traditional Oceania, where the world is perceived as a living archipelago connected by networks. It is not differential spatiality that matters, but rather the networked spatiality of places and routes. The model of linguistic chains provides an example of this.
