Description

Since 1989 the author has examined the dating of the spread of pottery-using agricultural cultures through island SE Asia and into the Pacific in a series of papers which examine critically the radiocarbon corpus and its interpretation. Since the last published update on this project a lot of new data have become available, prompting the current review. Consideratons of the fit between the archaeological evidence and that derived from linguistics are made and this issue of unrecognized site disturbance as contributing to confusion in constructing regional chronologies is also addressed.
